The 2022 ANTOR Awards announcements took place on September 27, 2022 during the gala “ANTOR Meet the World event” in Stockholm. The occasion was celebrated in-person for the first time after the pandemic.
Every year, ANTOR nominates the best travel reports published in the Swedish media. This year, Vagabond took home the award in both categories, with articles about Mexico, in particular about Tulum and Puerto Vallarta.
The prize for best travel reportage in print was awarded to an article that depicts the exciting food scene in Tulum, Mexico, written by Anna Norström, with photos by photographer Pär Olsson. The award was received by Vagabond´s editor-in-chief Fredrik Brändström on behalf of the author.
In choosing this article, the jury found that ”our winning candidate offers a thorough journey throughout all the different components of an ideal traveling story. It makes us want to travel through time and space and feel the heat, taste the delicacies and enjoy the scents. It tells a story, not only of the gastronomic development, but of the many sides of a Mexican flourishing community – both polished and unpolished.”
The award for best travel reportage in the web category recognizes an article written by Johanna Jackson about Puerto Vallarta, a beach town located on Mexico´s west coast.
In this case, the jury considered that “Puerto Vallarta Mexico web article was one of the winning contributions. The beautiful pictures taken with great skill makes you long for Mexico. The vibe of the small town Sayulita is boho chick with everything you would want from a holiday in the Caribbean. Culture, city views, food & drink and not to mention the beautiful green ocean and lovely beach, the pictures that along with the text describes the destination in an alluring way”.

The ANTOR Awards were launched several years ago, with the purpose of celebrating the very best of the travel article in Sweden. The awards were created in recognition of the hugely influential role that today’s travel media plays in the holiday and business travel industry. Open to all travel writers, broadcasters and photographers, the awards are a true barometer of the travel media sector. The writers and photographers are in all cases nominated by ANTOR members.
