VisitDenmark’s accommodation statistics show that Swedish overnight stays in Denmark continue to grow. During the period from January to July 2026, more than one million overnight stays by Swedish visitors were recorded, representing an increase of 8.3% compared to the same period last year. In June, the increase reached 12%, while July saw a rise of 6%.
“Swedes’ personal finances have improved significantly over the past two years, which has had a major impact on travel. Together with destination management organisations and commercial partners, we have also carried out targeted campaigns, particularly aimed at families with children in Stockholm and southern Sweden,” says Flemming Bruhn, Marketing Manager for VisitDenmark in Sweden.
“However, the increase is not solely the result of these campaigns. We are also seeing growing interest from Swedish media in publishing editorial travel features about Denmark. This helps inspire more Swedes to discover Denmark as a travel destination,” Flemming Bruhn continues.
