Few destinations are as closely associated with the world of Jane Austen as the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath. The city’s elegant Georgian architecture, refined social scene, and famous promenades still provide a living backdrop to Austen’s literary legacy. The new attraction, The Regency Life Experience, now gives visitors yet another reason to discover the city where the celebrated author lived more than 200 years ago.
The Regency Life Experience invites visitors to step back into the era of Jane Austen and explore the world that inspired many of her stories. In addition to learning more about the Regency period itself, guests can dress in authentic period clothing and accessories and stroll through Bath’s beautiful streets, just as Jane Austen did when she lived there between 1801 and 1806.
More Relevant Than Ever
The new attraction opens at a time when Jane Austen is more popular than ever and is expected to attract a new, younger audience. This autumn, a new film adaptation of Sense and Sensibility will be released, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood. In December, Netflix will premiere a new miniseries based on Pride and Prejudice.
The Bridgerton phenomenon is another example of how the Regency era continues to captivate audiences and draw visitors to Bath. Alongside Jane Austen-related attractions such as The Pump Room, The Jane Austen Centre, and the new The Regency Life Experience, visitors can also join guided tours that follow in the footsteps of Bridgerton and explore filming locations featured in the series.
