On 14 June, Czech Railways, in cooperation with Deutsche Bahn and Danish State Railways (DSB), will launch a new direct international rail connection linking Copenhagen, Hamburg, Berlin and Prague. The service will operate year-round with two daily departures in each direction, complemented by a third train pair during the summer season.
Improved Accessibility to Central Europe
Czechia: A Year-Round Destination
Often referred to as the heart of Europe, Czechia offers a diverse range of travel experiences, from cultural heritage and historic cities to active holidays and wellness stays. From Prague, visitors can easily continue to other historic cities such as Olomouc, Pilsen, České Budějovice or Brno, making it an ideal base for further exploration.
The new railjet connection also makes its first stop in Děčín, serving as the gateway to Bohemian Switzerland National Park, known for its impressive sandstone formations and scenic landscapes. The trains on the Copenhagen–Prague route, as well as within Czechia, allow for convenient bicycle transport. This creates excellent opportunities to explore some of the country’s most attractive cycling routes, including the popular Elbe Cycle Route (Labská stezka).
Czechia is also well suited for planning circular itineraries across its regions, with Prague as a natural starting point. Whether travellers choose the wine regions and UNESCO-listed sites of South Moravia, or opt for a scenic route in the north combining breathtaking nature with a long-standing glassmaking tradition, the country offers strong potential for diverse and multi-day travel programmes.
Prague as a Strategic Hub
Prague serves as a key gateway for onward travel across Central Europe. Comfortable day and night trains offer direct connections to major destinations such as Warsaw, Kraków, Košice and Budapest, further enhancing regional connectivity.
